Avram Grant draws inspiration from Ghana's performance in 2015

Black Stars coach Avram Grant wants the team to push on like they did in 2015.

Ghana qualified to the last eight of the ongoing championship last Saturday after beating Mali 1-0 courtesy Asamoah Gyan’s powerful header. Before the second game, that the four-time African champions had already won their first game – recording 1-0 win over Uganda.

In 2015 AFCON tournament, Ghana went straight to the final but they lost the coveted trophy via a penalty shoot-out to eventual winners Ivory Coast.

“We were not the favourites at the last AFCON (in 2015), yet we reached the final.

"We just think of winning the next game and then let anything happen.

"We are not the only candidates. Even though we have lots of problems, we will show the character we've got like we did two years ago."

Ghana will play Egypt in the final game in Group D, while Uganda will battle Mali.
