Bernard Tekpetey happy to make final Black Stars squad

Bernard Tekpetey is excited to have been selected by Ghana for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The Schalke 04 striker is one of the new faces named in Avram Grant's roster for the upcoming continental football showpiece.

Strikers Abdul-Majeed Waris and Raphael Dwamena were dropped by the Ghana coach in favour of the 19-year-old in the Black Stars' final 23-man squad.

He tweeted: "I thank God and all Ghanaians for the opportunity given to me for making it to the 23 man squad, God is king of everything!!!"

Tekpetey joined the Bundesliga side on a three-year deal from Ghanaian side Unistar Soccer Academy last January.

He has made appearances for the Royal Blues in the DFB Cup, Europa League and has one league appearance under his belt.

Ghana have been pitted against Egypt, Mali and Uganda in Group D, with the tournament set to run between January 14 and February 5.
