Asamoah Gyan on Sunday became the sixth African to record 50 goals in international football.

The Ahli striker nodded home a cross from Thomas Agyapong as Ghana walloped Ethiopia on Sunday in their opening 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.

Gyan’s goal has made him sixth African to score 50 or more international goals.

With both players having retired from international football Gyan has the chance to beat their record and come fourth in the all-time ranking and aim at beatin Hossam, Phiri and Chitalalu who have also retired.

The former Sunderland marksman in 2014 became African greatest scorer in FIFA World Cup when he scored his sixth (6) goal against Portugal to surpass   Roger Milla’s five (5) goal tally.
