Bastie Samir won the bragging over Bukom Banku by stopping the latter in round seven in their scheduled contest at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Bastie Samir is now being touted as the 'king of Ghana boxing' in the heavyweight division after humiliating Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, on Saturday night.

1. Floyd Mayweather sparring partner

Samir sparred with Mayweather ahead of the pound-for-pound king's fight against Saul Canelo Alvarez in 2013. He previously sparred with Mayweather before the unbeaten American fought against Miguel Cotto in 2012.

2. Bastie Samir signed a contract with Golden Boy Promotions in 2016

Samir joined a list of marquee boxers in Oscar de La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions after signing a five-year promotional deal in 2016. The former Olympian signed a five-year deal with Oscar De La Hoya’s outfit, but after just a year the marriage between the two parties have reportedly ended after contractual dispute. Samir fought only once under Golden Boy Promotions’ label, which was September 2016, when he unanimously defeated Sijuola Ade Shabazz.

3. Bastie Samir's younger brother is a boxing champion

Bastie's younger brother, Issa Samir have had a good foundation from the amateur ranks and started their professional careers on a high as well. His younger brother has a record of 14 wins and no loss.

Issa Samir won the IBF World Youth title when he defeated Robinson Omsarashvili from Georgia via TKO in 2013 - becoming the first Ghanaian to win a global youth title in the history of boxing. Issa won silver in the bantamweight division at the 2007 All-Africa Games and qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

4. Still Undefeated

Bastie has an impressive record of knocking out all his opponent. An Olympian from the Beijing 2008 Games, Bastie undefeated in 16 fights - 15 wins and a draw. He represented Ghana and won silver at the 2007 All-Africa Games boxing welterweight division. Bastie is the former team captain of Ghana's national team Black Bombers.

5. Held to a draw Lester Gonzalez

The winning streak and unblemished ledger of Bastie Samir ended in 2011 as he went the distance for the first time and was held to a draw by Lester Gonzalez over six rounds. Scores were 58-56 Gonzalez, 58-56 Samir and 57-57..

6. Bastie is nicknamed “The Beast”

Bastie Samir is 31 years old and was born on May 19, 1986. He relocated to the US in 2008 and won many professional bouts there.

Due to his ultimate strength which he got by his hardwork and making him a wrecking machine, Bastie is nicknamed "the beast".
