Athletics legend Usain Bolt believes he has what it takes to become a “good” footballer following his retirement from athletics.

The sprinter brought down the curtain on his illustrious career, following his participation in the 2017 IAAF Championships in London.

Bolt first placed third in the 100m race, before surprisingly failing to finish in the 4x100m relay after pulling up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury during the race.

However, the Jamaican believes he has what it takes to make the transition from athletics to professional football.

Addressing the media after his last appearance as a sprinter, Bolt said: “I’ve always said that I wanted to play football because it’s something I think I’ll be good at.

“But right now, after pulling my hamstring, I’m not really worried about that at this moment.”

The 30-year-old is set to partake in a Manchester United vs Barcelona legends match in September, however, it remains to be seen it he can really carve a profession as a full-time footballer.

Bolt is a known fan of Manchester United, and has confessed severally about his intent to represent the Old Trafford outfit.

The sprinter cemented his career in athletics folklore after winning 19 medals overall, including successive gold medals at three Olympic Games.
