Ghana move up in FIFA ranking despite missing out on World Cup 2018

The Black Stars are now ranked 51st on the Coca-Cola world rankings.

Ghana is now ranked 51st on the global ladder – one place up from the previous ranking where the country was ranked in 52nd position.

The Black Stars played just a single game in the month of November, engaging the Pharaohs of Egypt in a World Cup qualifier at the Cape Coast stadium.

Kwesi Appiah’s men managed to hold their North African opponents to a 1-1 draw, despite falling behind early in the second half.

The result seems to have given the team a lift in the FIFA/Coca-Cola rankings for the month, with Ghana moving a place up.

The biggest winners for the month, though, is Senegal who are now ranked 23rd in the world following their imperious run in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

The Teranga Lions are also first in the African rankings, with Tunisia and Egypt following suit in second and third-place respectively.
