Kwesi Appiah would have taken Ghana to the 2018 World Cup - Deputy Minister

Pius Enam Hadzide believes that the current coach Kwesi Appiah with the current team would have taken Ghana to the 2018 World Cup if they started the campaign

When we took over as a government we were on one point and other countries were five points ahead of us. The task was always going to be difficult.

We thought that we should have won our home game against Congo but we drew that game. We did not win a single home game so how were we going to qualify.

“We had to build a new coach and new team so that we hopefully bond and mature. From what I have seen I believe that it would have been a different story if the current coach and the current team were involved form the beginning.”

Coach James Kwesi Appiah took over the side from May 2017 and has been embarking on what he wants to call a re-building process where a few new names like Thomas Agyapong, Edwin Gyasi, Patrick Twumasi, Nana Ampomah, Lumor Agbenyenu was introduced into the squad.
