Manchester City after spending £57m on Aymeric Laporte in January has surpassed PSG as the side with the most expensive squad in football, according to CIES Football Observatory.

Pep Guardiola was active last summer, strengthening all departments of his team- Kyle Walker (£45m), Ederson (£35m), Bernardo Silva (£43), Danilo (£27m) and Benjamin Mendy (£52m) were all brough to the Ittihad Stadium.

However, they were trailing PSG who also did some good business, signing Neymar from Barcelona for 222m euros and also secured the signature of Mbappe to add up to their existing expensive squad, but Manchester City have toppled them after Laporte joined them in January.

Manchester United placed 3rd, followed by Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid in 4th, 5th and 6th places respectively.
