Baba Rahman admits to frustrating time on Chelsea bench

Chelsea full-back Abdul Baba Rahman frustrated with time on the bench but aims to play more in the second half of the season

Ghanaian defender Abdul Baba Rahman is not enjoying his time on the bench with Premier League side Chelsea and has admitted to the frustration in an interview with German tabloid Bild.

The 21-year-old was a regular for German Bundesliga side Augsburg before joining the Premier League Champions last summer. Under Jose Mourinho, Baba Rahman played in a handpick of games and is yet to feature under new Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink.

The former Kumasi Asante Koto player told Bild when asked of his time on the Chelsea bench:

“Of course it’s frustrating for any footballer to sit in the stands. It’s not something I’ve experienced a lot of.

“As a young player you have to get used to it, and I have to get accustomed to life at a big club and this world-class league.

“In my view, the first half year was quite okay. But in the second half I will definitely play more. Chelsea are one of the best clubs in the world.”
