According to the Minster of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, the project will receive huge financial boost from government, with works set to continue.
The construction of the Legon stadium started 14-years ago, however, the project has since been abandoned by successive governments.
The Legon stadium was previously being financed by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), but works at the venue have been slow in recent times.
That, though, is set to end as government has now provided funds in a bid to fasten the completion of the facility.

“Government has released about GH¢10million to start constructing the Legon Sports Stadium,” Sports Minister Asiamah said after touring the facility.
“As a government that built four new stadia in this country, we’re committed to developing the sports infrastructure in the country. We will renovate all the dilapidated stadia but we won’t rush it.”
When completed, the Legon stadium is expected to house around 30,000 spectators, with the facility also penciled to be one of the venues for the upcoming WAFU tournament.
