Inspirational talks are part of me - Stephen Appiah

The former Ghana captain believes he only did what was required of him by motivating the Black Stars players against Congo.

Appiah has been working as team coordinator for the Black Stars since May, and was captured in a viral video delivering an inspirational speech to the playing body before the team played Congo in Brazzaville.

Ghana had choked once already against the Red Devils in Kumasi after seeing the Central African country snatch a 1-1draw.

However, the reverse fixture made for a different proposition as the Black Stars annihilated their opponents by five goals to one away in Brazzaville.

Many have attributed the team's near-perfect performance to the speech delivered by Appiah before the team stepped out for the game.

However, the former Black Stars captain has refused to take all the credit, insisting such things are part and parcel of him.

Speaking on the Football Legends Show on GHOne TV, he said: "I remember when we arrived in Brazzaville, the frustration at the airport was too much and we spent about three hours at the airport.

“The players were ready to play the game and am not going to say my speech won the game but I think it helped."
