Jordan Ayew declared fit for Swansea City Weekend game

Swansea City manager Paul Clement says Jordan Ayew is fit and available for selection against Newcastle after recovering from illness while on national team duties.

The 25-year-old striker opted out of the Black Stars 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game in Congo on Tuesday, after complaining of stomach upset.

Photos later emerged of the player being hospitalized as a confirmation of his illness.

In Jordan Ayew’s absence Ghana thrashed Congo 1-5, but it is shocking that he has been declared fit to feature for Swansea over the weekend.

"Jordan is fit and well after missing the game through illness," Clement said during a pre-match press conference.

"There were some worrying pictures of him in a hospital bed, he trained on his own yesterday and he was back in full training today so no problems.

"It was precautionary that he was in the hospital so he is okay and available.

Jordan is expected to feature in Swansea’s English Premier League home game against Newcastle United on Sunday. He opened his season’s scoring account in the Jack Army’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
