Hasaacas host Dwarfs in a game of struggling teams

Preview of the Ghana Premier League game between Sekondi Hasaacas and Ebusua Dwarfs

Hasaacas, who are a place and a point above the relegation zone, welcomes bottom placed Dwarfs at the Sekondi stadium in a traditional rivalry battle.

Their unimpressive forms are made worst by their terrible goals statistics, beyond their 13th and 16th positions on the league table. Hasaacas have the worst defensive record so far after conceding an unbelievable 22 goals while Dwarfs have the worst attack in the league with only 7 goals to their credit.

Yet despite these disheartening stats, the match is still a big one considering that both clubs represent their regions in the top flight football division. Hasaacas, are called "Giants of the West" and Dwarfs are the idol club for central region.

Pride and bragging right is a major factor as both sides drew goalless, two seasons ago both in Sekondi and Cape Coast.

Coach Yusif Basigi has had to watch his Hasaacas team go through such inauspicious start to the league. He says getting all three points against  his neighboring city rivals is non-negotiable.

"Not at all, I really need it (3 points) badly. Our session has proven that the boys are battle ready and that is how we are going to determine in the match. Because it shows clearly that they are all match ready and if the players are match ready then you also have an idea as to what to do".

He further intimate that his team is fast improving and that their position on the league log was key in waking them from their sleep.

"You can see now it's better because initially it wasn't good but for now I can say the team is coming up. We are living up to expectation, we just need to convert our chances and we will be fine.

"If were sleeping now we've woken up from our slumber. And even the position tells, if you look at the position we don't deserve to be there. What do we do, we have to move for there to go up and join our colleagues up there to battle. So if we have that mentality definitely we will get to where we really want to go".

Dwarfs have appointed university lecturer and tactician, Prosper Narteh Odum as their new head coach after sacking J.E. Sarpong about a fortnight ago. Odum will be looking for his first win after drawing goalless at home to Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday. The Mysterious club have also not scored in their last two games but will hope to take something home from Sekondi.

Hasaacas' home invincibility under Yusif Basigi was broken by Liberty Professionals in week nine. Basigi reckons that should be a reason for his players to never relax until they deliver the result.

"This time when you relax then you are in trouble. We don't need to relax whether home or away so that has informed us that we need to wake up. We don't need to say our home has been an unbeatable grounds and for that matter we need to relax. This time it is a thing of the past".
