Black Stars newbie opts out of Ethiopia clash to decide international future

Ghana face competition from Sweden over the future of Kingsley Sarfo's international football career

Kinsgley Sarfo has opted out of Ghana's clash against Ethiopia, USA and Mexico to enable him settle on the future of his international football career.

Sarfo 22, was handed his debut Black Stars call-up by James Kwesi Appiah as part of his 30-man squad for the triple header against Ethiopia, Mexico and USA.

However, Sarfo who is one of the most outstanding performers in the Swedish Allsvenskan is contemplating on committing his international football to his country of birth after Swedish FA instructed their Immigration Office to ensure the midfielder acquire Swedish passport to make the nationality switch smooth.

The deputy coach of the Black Stars Ibrahim Tanko has revealed the complexity regarding the availability of Kingsley Sarfo for the impending Black Stars clashes.

"Kingsley Sarfo will not join the team for the Ethiopia ,USA and Mexico matches, he needs to settle especially to decide on either playing for Ghana or Sweden." Black Stars assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM

Sarfo was born in Ghana to Ghanaians parents and moved to Sweden just three years ago after playing for the Ghanaian side Golden Booth Academy.

He has scored three goals for IK Sirius and made several assists.
