Kumasi has hosted the Black Stars on countless occasion, but some of the games played there always bring back old memories.

2000

South Africa broke Ghanaians hearts when they booted out the co-hosts of the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations Ghana from the tournament at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

Nonvete scored the only goal of the game from a header.

2008

Ghana defeated Ivory Coast at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to claim bronze medal during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sulley Muntey shot the Black Stars into the lead in the 10th minute, before Boubacar Sanogo restored parity for the Ivorians in a solo run and scored again to Ivory Coast in the driving seat, but Quincy Owusu-Abeyie scored to make it two all.

Ghana after the equalizer scored two additional goals through Junior Agogo and Haminu Dramani.

Ghana defeated Zambia 2-1 to secure a play-off berth with Egypt in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

On 15th October, 2013, Ghana took a huge step towards reaching their third straight World Cup finals by thrashing Egypt 6-1 in the first leg of their 2014 play-off.

Asamoah Gyan thumped in the opener and it was 2-0 after Michael Essien's run led to an own-goal from Wael Gomaa.

Egypt's Mohamed Aboutrika scored a penalty but Majeed Waris headed in to make it 3-1 and Gyan headed another.

A Sulley Muntari penalty and a late strike by Christian Atsu put Ghana in total control of the tie.

2004

Black Stars walloped South Africa 3-0 at the BabaYara Sports Stadium, Kumasi in 2004 in their bid to qualify for their first FIFA World Cup.

Muntari broke the deadlock of the game and Stephen Appiah scored a brace to make victory certain for Ghana
