The Stoke City forward has been pledged with injury since he suffered a  crucial ligament on his knee in Stoke’s English Premier League 1-0 win over Manchester City in August 2014.

The injury meant that the 33-year-old Nigerian International missed most of the season only returning in the last month of the season.

Odemwingie has however resumed training after his latest injury setback.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has revealed this while speaking before Stoke City's game against Arsenal over the weekend.

“Peter is back amongst the group and has looked really bright to be honest, but we feel that he may well be best served playing in the U-21 fixture at the weekend," Hughes said.

” Whilst he is progressing and getting closer, he is still short of match fitness so hopefully the game on Saturday (U-21 game) will help push him on.”

Stoke City lost 0-2 to Arsenal at the Emirate.
