Wa Africa United threaten court action against GFA

The GFA’s pronouncement to commence the Ghana Premier League has triggered the 1 division side to threaten them with a legal action

The owner of WA Africa United, Nana Gyamerah believes the Ghana Football Association has given his side a raw deal by taking the decision to start the GPL without ruling on the case between his side and Takyiman City.

The Wa based club leveled allegation that they were involved in a fixed match with Takyiman City when they played in a division one league game.

The Ghana Football Association referred the case to their Ethics Committee and the body found the clubs guilty of match of convenience and based on that demoted them to division 2.

However, Takyiman City appealed that DCOP Kofi Boakye who chaired the sitting lacked the authority to do so, hence the ruling shouldn’t stand.

The GFA, after the appeal by Takyiman City decided to refer the case back to the Ethics Committee for redress, but just as the committee was about to sit on the case, the Ghana FA informed the Takyiman based side to present their list of players to be registered for the upcoming league which has been fixed on 20 February, 2015.

And Wa Africa United, who feel unfairly treated have threatened to pursue the case at the law court to ensure the right thing is done.

“When I heard the news, I was surprised because we were all in this country when the Ethics Committee chaired by DCOP Kofi Boakye brought a ruling that my club and Micky Charles should be demoted to 2 division and no other body has reversed the decision that he should play in the premier league whiles I participate in the 2 division,” Nana Gyamerah told Otec FM.

“Even if the ruling of Kofi Boakyi was nonsense and there is an appeal on the issue, a different body should sit on the case and bring its ruling and if the ruling is different from that of the Ethics Committee then the decision to let them play in the premier league is understood, but that is not the case.

“I will seek redress at the law court because I won’t sit down for them to take me for granted. They should know we all use money to run our clubs, so I will take the case to court.

Charles Ntim, popularly known as Micky Charles is the President of Takyiman City, the side that havetheir premier league qualification challenged due to match fixing scandal.
