World of video games makes a poetic tribute to late CEO
On 11 July 2015, when the summer was just settling in, Satoru Iwata, finally kicked the bucket after months battling with cancer.
For thirteen years, the man had been at the head of Nintendo, presiding over the destiny of the company during one of the most interesting periods in its history. It was under his reign that the Gameboy DS then became the 3DS; Mario reinvented; the Wii was designed and did very well.
But before becoming the head of "Big N", Satoru Iwata was a developer, game designer and player.
This is what happened that won him the respect of Nintendo engineers, players of the gaming world and many gamers. At a conference at GDC 2005, he said soberly "in my heart, I'm a gamer."
Since last July, Satoru Iwata has received many tributes. However, during the Game Developers Conference, being held in San Francisco, the late CEO of Nintendo was awarded the Game Developers Choice Awards Tribute.
A very touching short animated video, recounts some of the highlights of his career poetically. In the video, Iwata is described as full of imagination and man who inspired his family and the world around him.
The YouTube video is accompanied by one sentence: "Thank you Mr. Iwata for all you have done for the game world."
