Vodafone, Tigo, Glo sanctioned for poor service
Airtel’s voice subscribers decreased from 5,012,239 as at the end of March 2016 to 4,942,197 as at the end of April 2016, according to the NCA’s report.
The NCA gave the three mobile operators a deadline of August, 2016 to improve their services to towns in the region.

The National Communications Authority has sanctioned telecoms providers Vodafone, Tigo and Glo for providing poor quality of service in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

The NCA in the latest assessment of cellular mobile services report in the Ashanti Region, revealed that Vodafone, Tigo and Glo had failed to meet the NCA’s standards for 3G service provision in the region.

The NCA says the assessment is in line with the 3G mobile license obligations of the telecommunication companies and measures the consumer experience of users.

All telecommunication companies are said to have failed the 3G compliance tests in major cities of the country with the exception of MTN.
The report did not mention the punitive measures that will be meted out to the service providers who failed to meet the standards.
