Ayew brothers reply Kwasi Appiah after Black Stars snub

Andre Ayew and his younger brother, Jordan Ayew, have declared that they are ever ready to represent Ghana if they are called upon.

Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah announced a 26-man provisional squad to be whittled down to 23, with the Ayew brothers missing out, which has led to several discussions among Ghanaians.

Some Ghanaians suggesting that the coach’s hatred for the Ayew family influenced his decision, with Sola Ayew, brother of the players’ father Abedi Pele Ayew, launching a scathing attack at Appiah, insisting that the coach has been harbouring hatred against the family since 1992 after Abedi was made captain of Ghana ahead of him.

But the Ayew brothers are not bothered by the snub, insisting that they are always ready to play for the West African country.

"We enjoy playing in the best league. Not a lot of players play in this league. A lot dream to play in this league, Andre Ayew said after West Ham's 1-0 over Swansea on Saturday.

"We are here representing Ghana. We will try to represent our continent as best as we can.

"You always get people who are happy and those who are angry but what we know is that God has blessed us and we will always represent our country."

Ghana sit third in Group E with five points, four points behind leaders Egypt.
