CAF’s General Assembly congress was held in Addis Ababa on Thursday for the various member associations to elect new leaders to run the federation.
Newly elected CAF president, Ahmad Ahmad bested the votes of Hayatou by surprisingly pulling 34 votes to the Cameroonians 20.
Hayatou was elected president of CAF in 1988, and has since been retained for seven successive terms.
However, the outcome of this year’s CAF elections mean the Cameroonian’s reign has finally come to an end and social media users wasted no time in sticking it in.

Whiles some rejoiced over his departure, others criticized him for staying for “too long”.
