President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi believes there are other people capable of managing the country’s football, while hinting he might step down after his current tenure.
Nyantakyi has been in office as FA boss since 2005, and was recently re-elected for a third successive term.
However, the FIFA council member has come under increasing pressure to step down following stagnation of the local league, as well as poor performance of the Black Stars.
And despite refusing to resign, Nyantakyi believes 2019 will be the perfect time to walk away.
"Indeed, I have no plans to entrench myself in the position as it is a privileged post; at a point, I would have to leave and there is no better time to do so than when the applaud is very loud,'' the GFA president said in an interview with Graphic Sports.
''I don't think I'm the only person capable of leading Ghana football. I can do so much but not everything. Besides, I think we all must take a page from the wind of change blowing in FIFA on reforms which among things place a limit on the term of president.''
Kwesi Nyantakyi also serves as an Executive Committee member of CAF.
