Abraham Attah has made Africa proud - Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has stated that Ghana’s teen actor,
Attah, 15, has swept several awards including Black Film Critics Circle’s Rising Star Award, Best Young Actor at Venice Film Festival, Best Actor at Spirit Awards, Best Actor in Lead Role and Discovery of the Year at Ghana Movie Awards 2015for his lead role.
Speaking at the 59th Independence Day celebration on the theme, “Investing in the Youth for Ghana’s Transformation”, the president advised that Ghanaians remain united just as no one played ethnocentric and partisan about successes by industrious sons of the land including Abraham Attah but hailed them.
According to him, when someone achieves a height, “we don’t stop to think what political party they are associated with, we do not stop to think what their ethnic origin is, we celebrate them as Ghanaians because they are the face of Ghana. So when Abrahama Attah won the Independence Spirit Awards, he was not just representing his country; he was being applauded by Africa.”
“I’m sure we applauded the loudest because he is one of us and he is a face of our proud country, Ghana. This is the pride of unity we must foster,” President Mahama added.
Abraham Attah arrived in Ghana on Friday after presenting an award at the 2016 Oscars. He has stated that he will not feature in any local movie because it is fun to be in Hollywood.
