13 Pakistanis not terrorists
The Ghana Immigration Service has dispelled reports that the thirteen Pakistani nationals who were arrested in the Central region are terrorists.
Raymond Bahey, who speaks for the Ghana Immigration Service Training School in the Central Region told Joy News that investigations indicate that the foreigners are missionaries who are in Ghana to preach to the Muslim community.
He added that the thirteen have been transferred to the Cape Coast Regional headquarters of the Immigration Service for further investigations.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that they are missionaries. However, investigation is ongoing so the public shouldn’t panic. They are being forwarded to the regional command,” he noted.
The Pakistani nationals are said to have arrived in the country six months ago according to Assin Fosu District Police Commander, DSP Samuel Lawson.
“An informant called us that some people numbering thirteen were walking from Asin Nyankomase towards Assin Fosu so we dispatched policemen to go bring them… But when we interrogated them, they claim they are Ahmadiyya sect missionaries from Pakistan and have been in the country for six months now…” he stated.
