Former president Kufour calls on GFA to invest in local league
Former Ghana president, John Agyekum Kufour, has issued a rallying call on the hierarchy of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to put in place measures that will help revamp the local league.
According him, failure on the part of the GFA to salvage the situation could spell doom for the future of the Ghanaian topflight.

Clubs from the Ghana Premier League (GPL) have flattered to deceive in recent times, with no club managing to win a continental trophy since 2004.
The underperformance of Ghanaian clubs, coupled with the reduced interest in the local league, has led to criticisms being directed at the GFA.
And Kufour believes the country’s football body must put in enough effort to help revive the local league.
“We have a big problem and we need to solve it now, otherwise the future of the Local League would be bleak,” the former president lamented in an interview with Top FM.
“A lot of factors are involved here, so i don’t want to blame the players because they are working. But GFA and the people who are in charge of sports should invest in the industry to make it worthwhile.
“So in terms of money, our league is not attractive and we need to correct our mistakes. We can’t be losing players like that.”
