The opening day of the GPL produced a lot of thrills, as 15 goals were scored and officiating that mostly come under much criticisms was the least of things criticised about the Ghana Premier League.

FIFA retired referee Joseph Wellington has stated that officiating has been improving since last season and once again referees lived to the billing when they exercised their duties accordingly to boost people’s confidence in them.

“I must commend my fellow referees for the good work they did on last weekend at the various league centres.

“No team blamed refereeing for its defeat and I think refereeing since last season has been improving and when they keep on with the good work that they have started, it would make our league exciting,” he told Happy FM.
