Ghana defender Gideon Baah suffered a broken tibia this past weekend and will miss four to five months of action, according to reports.
The MLS club announced that the former Asanteb Kotoko left back undergone successful surgery for his fractured left tibia, which was performed by Red Bulls team physician Dr. Riley Williams at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
"To have this happen to him is painful for everyone," head coach Jesse Marsch told Red Bulls communications officer Eric Giacometti.
Baah left Sunday’s match against the Portland Timbers in the 22nd minute, crumbling into a pile in an apparent non-contact injury.

He was stretchered off the field, making way for Damien Perrinelle, who made his first regular season start since October of last year and his first professional appearance for the team since falling injured against DC last November.
Baah, the lone free agent pickup for the Red Bulls this offseason, has made just nine MLS appearances, scoring two goals through six total starts. He has also featured for New York Red Bulls II of the USL where he underwent most of his recovery work prior to joining the first team.
