Ben Addai, believed to be a retired teacher, is currently in the grips of the Mampongten Police Station. He was arrested at Adum after trying to run away from the police.
Neighbours say Mr Addai invited the minor, a form two student of Asante Juapong Junior High School into his room at 4am Saturday, only to come out later with no clothes on, her intestines gushing out.
A neighbor, Emmanuel Kesse, who saw the semi-conscious girl rushed her to the hospital and subsequently reported the incident to the Mampongten police. Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where the 16-year-old was rushed, found semen in her vagina.
However, before she died, the 16-year-old confessed to doctors at KATH the 70-year-old man was her boyfriend.
It is not clear why the 70-year-old man stabbed the girl to death. But before she passed away, the minor told the neighbour who rushed her to the hospital that the retired teacher was angry she has been extorting money from him but will not give in to his sexual advances.
Ben Addai however explains he mistook the girl for an armed robber.
