Wondering how the game is played?

Suction cups are stuck on the heads of participants, with a red rope connecting the heads of both competitors. Both bald men then engage in a tug-of-war with each competitor trying to pull the cup off the head of his opponent.

Just like in the normal tug-of-war, the one who succeeds in pulling the cup off the head of the other eventually becomes the winner.

The competition is held every year on 22nd February, with over 30 bald men participating in this year’s event.

The Bald men club was formed in 1989, and currently has over 65 men joining from across Japan. The Club was formed to encourage bald men “to have fun, and to brighten the world with our shiny heads".

Weird right? Maybe it should be labeled the “tug-of-bald heads” instead of tug-of-war.
