Obed Owusu’s brace powers Kotoko to round of 16

The former Chelsea skipper, who has lost his starting role at Kotoko this season due to the arrival of Kwame Boateng from Gt. Olympics made a good account of himself when handed a starting role against the Tumu based side by scoring in each half of the game.

Obed Owusu fired Kotoko in the lead in the 43rd minute, before he put Real 24 Hours beyond recovery with the second in the 90th minute.

Kotoko had a torrid time seeing off AK Shion another lower division side in the round of 64, but the Real 24 Hours job was easier for them and have therefore earned a place in the last 16 of the national knockout contest.

There game dominated the news over the week, after Kotoko had their protest against the use of the grassless Tumu Park thrown out by the club licensing Board.

However, huge spectators were there to witness the game played at the home town of Kotoko and Ghana legend, the late Baba Yara.

The round of 32 have produced a lot of shocks as both inform Hearts of Oak and league champions Ashgold have been knocked out by lower division clubs, Samatex and Asokwa Deportivo, respectively.
