The Chief Executive (MCE) for the Suhum Municipal Assembly, Samuel Fleisher-Kwabi, has resigned from his position, following his failure to be nominated as a parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area.
According to him, he had to resign because any decision he may take as MCE may be misconstrued.
In a letter addressed to the office of the president, Mr. Fleisher- Kwabi said “As a Chief Executive for the past seven years I had to implement many hard but cogent decisions of the assembly, some of which brought fierce resistance and confrontation from some party functionaries and executives… there are many more of such decisions which if not implemented could render the Assembly impotent and ineffective; but now that I have lost the Parliamentary Primaries, any attempt to implement them is likely to be misinterpreted or misconstrued.”
Mr. Fleisher- Kwabi also said his decision is in the best interest of the party.
“In order not to worsen the already highly volatile situation, I deem it honorable to bow out of office when the applaud is loudest and call for my replacement in the interest of our great party the NDC,” he said.
He added “As stipulated in my letter of appointment, I wish to seize this opportunity to serve His Excellency the President the mandatory three months’ notice of my resignation from office as a Chief Executive.”
Samuel Fleisher- Kwabi has, however, indicated that he is ready to give his full support to the president and the parliamentary candidate elect of Suhum.
