Eleven companies submit proposals
Eleven private companies have, so far, submitted bids to manage the Electricity Company of Ghana under the proposed privatisation of the power distributor.
Amongst the eleven companies who have tendered proposals are foreign and local.
The Millennium Development Authority is currently reviewing the proposals by the companies in order to shortlist them for the actual tender.
The Director of Generation projects at MiDA, Mawunyo Robson says “It was proposed initially, that by the 10 of June we would have issued the request for proposals. But we have a little challenge right now collating the comments and finalizing the documentation, and that is why I indicated that in the next couple of weeks, we should be done with analysis of the proposals” he told Joy Fm.
Mr. Robson conceded that the process of privatising ECG has taking quite some time to materialize, however due consultation was needed in order to take a right decision.
The company that will win the contract will run ECG for 25 years.
