Pressure group Alliance for Accountable Government AFAG, has called on parliament to investigate what led to the payment of 3.6 million cedis to Smartyys Production and Management. For the rebranding of BRT busses.
The 3.6 expenditure on rebranding 161 buses has caused public outcry with many questioning the manner in which government officials are spending tax payers money.
AFAG says the money involved could have been used to rehabilitate “the children's ward of the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital or any other health project for that matter.”
The group says this development means “clearly, incompetent President Mahama has lost his way.”
“At the time economic hardships due to the incompetence of the Mahama-Arthur Amissah administration; increase in utility tariffs; increasing unemployment and general economic hardships, Ghanaians do not expect such blatant act of corruption even from an incompetent and failed government.”
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has asked the Attorney General’s department to review the contract between the Metro Mass Transit Company and Smartyys Production Management.
