Called Scratch Blocks, this language is easy to learn because it is totally graphic.

It combines Google’s Blockly technology with the expertise of the MIT team that developed the programming system Scratch in 2007. With this system available on the MIT site, children can easily create stories, games and animations. Since its inception, Scratch has been used by over 11 million people.

For its part, the Blockly technology by Google will also be placed on a visual platform with a system for creating programs in the form of blocks in order to convert them into another language (such as JavaScript or PHP).

The combination of both systems, Scratch Blocks should be intuitive and easy to use on screens of small sizes such as smartphones and tablets.

Google hopes that this language will be adopted by manufacturers and become a universal platform for toys that use programming. Initially, Scratch Blocks will fully graphical but Google has not totally excluded the idea of later adding functions using text to enrich his language.

A preliminary version of the open source program is now available for developers.
