More misery for United boss as Chicharito wins another Bundesliga award

Whilst Manchester United are struggling for goals, the striker they rejected has bagged a second straight player of the month gong on the back of his terrific goal scoring form

If you didn’t know any better you’d be forgiven for thinking the Bundesliga were trolling Louis van Gaal at this point.

The German league has awarded Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez with their Player of the Month award – his second in a row, after winning the November gong.

Without the records to hand, it’s plausible that winning back-to-back Player of the Month awards is unprecedented; at the very least it is very, very rare.

Which goes to show just how good the Mexican has been for Bayer Leverkusen this season, and hence just how stupid Louis van Gaal was for casting him out the back door of Old Trafford last August.

In the context of United’s goal-shy season, letting Chicharito leave now looks like one of Van Gaal’s biggest mistakes.

Hernandez has 11 league goals from 14 appearances for Leverkusen; Wayne Rooney has 2 from 15.
