Techiman City Football Club almost struck a deal with Oil Company, Nasona Oil to become headline sponsors of the club, but the Ghana FA Ethics Committee ruling destroyed it, Managing Director of company, Alhaji Abuba Shaibu has revealed.
Last year, there were reports that Techiman City had signed a sponsorship agreement with Nasona Oil worth $250,000, but pulse.com.gh checks revealed that the deal would only go through should the FA Ethics Committee clear Techiman City off any wrongdoing in their alleged match-fixing with Wa Africa United.
The President of Techiman City, Charles Kwadwo Ntim told pulse.com.gh that 'the deal was signed and sealed' after pulse.com.gh reported that the deal was far from done.
However, on Tuesday February 16, he said that the deal with the Oil Company is '50-50' because of the Ethics Committee ruling that demoted the Techiman-based club to the third tier of Ghana football -- Division two.

Alhaji Abuba Shaibu, the Managing Director of Nasona Oil says he almost signed a deal with Techiman City, but the Ethics Committee's ruling has jeopardised it.
"If you remember the last time we spoke, I told you I'm ready to sponsor the club (Techiman City) if the FA confirm them a premier league club," Alhaji Abuba Shaibu said in an interview with pulse.com.gh.
"Because they came to me as premier league side and the tone of our negotiations were based on sponsoring premier league club. When the FA announced that the league will start without the ruling, I called them to come for us to sign the contract and I was even ready to give them a cheque immediately after signing the deal.
"But a week later the FA (Ethics Committee) ruled that Techiman City should be demoted to Division two, not even Division One... if you're a businessman, would you have signed the deal?
"Was I going to sign the contract based on a club playing in Division two or premier league? There’s nothing I could have done and there's nothing I can do." He added.
