10 % public sector wage rise is an illusion- Franklin Cudjoe

According to him, government does not have the finance to support the increment. Adding that government has placed a freeze on government hiring, recycling the monies they would have used to hire more people to increase salaries of the already employed.

Executive Director of Policy Think Tank, Franklin Cudjoe has described government decision to increase public sector worker's salaries by 10 per cent as a mere political gimmick.

Franklin Cudjoe was reacting to the 10 percent increase in public sector workers' salaries and a 14.5 per cent hike in Minimum Wage.

Mr. Cudjoe was speaking on Citi FM's News Analysis program, Big Issues when he said " it may be a smart of ensuring you are still within the limit and still create the impression that you increasing public sector wages. If it so then you can't fault the minister"

The Imani boss added that this move adds to the challenges government occasioned on the country through the implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy.

On marching public sector pay to productivity, Franklin Cudjoe said,

Minister for Employment and Labour relations, Haruna Idrisu hours ago announced the decision to hike public sector wages by 10 percent, and Minimum wage by 14.5 per cent.
