The 34-year-old completed a shocking move to Persib Bandung on a free transfer, after parting ways with Panathinaikos in the Greek league.

Essien, ahead of the Indonesian topflight league which is yet to kick off was unveiled to the home fans on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

The Ghana international has played for European clubs like Lyon of France, Chelsea of England, Real Madrid of Spain, AC Milan of Italy and Panathinaikos in Greece. Persib Bandung is his first club outside Europe and Africa.
