PPP backs Akufo-Addo over ROPAL

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has backed President Nana Akufo-Addo over plans to ensure the implementation of the Representation of the People’s Amendment Law (ROPAL).

“We are elated that it is being considered so that Ghanaians outside the country can vote as the law says they should,” he said on Accra-based Class FM.
“I’m happy President Nana Akufo-Addo has seen it fit for the Electoral Commission to implement it,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo, on a two-day visit to Togo, said it was time Ghanaians living outside the country are allowed to vote.

Speaking to the Ghanaian community there, he said: “There are many countries in West Africa and around the world that do allow their citizens overseas to vote. I cannot understand why in Ghana we do not allow that to happen.”
