The 29-year-old Bygraves, was sentenced at London’s Southwark Crown Court after knocking over frail pensioner Stanley Evans, 93, and stealing from him in an attack branded ‘callous and sickening’.

The prosecutor told the court that Evans remained on the ground in the entrance to the flats in Soho, central London, for five minutes before he managed to get to his feet and call 999.

The pensioner suffered a shoulder injury during the unprovoked assault on January 31.

Bygraves, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty via prison video-link last month.

Bygraves had followed Evans into his block of flats and pushed him over as he lunged for his wallet.
