Man who stole 2 bags of cement gets 7 strokes of the cane

One Naziti Ibrahim's punishment for stealing two bags of cement was to be given seven strokes of the cane in open court.

The funny sentence was handed down to him by a Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on Thursday, June 11, 2015.

The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko recommended the sentenced after Ibrahim pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for leniency, promising to turn a new leaf.

The prosecutor in the case, Israel Nongo, had told the court that Ibrahim stole the cement valued at N4, 000, from one Hitman Eboh of Good Homes Estate, Abuja, on May 19.

Nongo said that Ibrahim had gone to a site where construction work was ongoing and stole the two bags of cement.
