Players of Russian club side Spartak Moscow have come to the aid of a 102-year-old supporter who was robbed of his life savings.
The players came together to donate more than £5,000 to Otto Fischer, a World War Two veteran who has been a Spartak fan since his 20s.
According to Russia Today, Otto Fischer had approximately £8470 taken from him after letting a man posing as a social worker into his house.
The Spartak players took it upon themselves to help the 102-year-old man when they heard of his misfortune.
Otto Fischer was presented with the money on television by striker Vyacheslav Krotov.
"With Otto Fischer, a really cool guy, who wished us more victories! He says he will try to come and see our matches," Vyacheslav Krotov wrote on Twitter.
In addition, the club set up a bank account where fans and members of the public can contribute to the cause, and will also donate a percentage of the ticket sales from Spartak’s upcoming match with Kuban Krasnodar on Sturday, April, 4.
"I am very glad to get this help, I bow my head to everyone who understood this situation," Otto Fischer said.
"If I get another opportunity to see another game, I certainly will with great pleasure."
