Mantse Derby: Hearts of Oak reclaim top spot despite draw against Great Olympics

A stupendous long-range effort from Emmanuel Nettey was cancelled out by a great header from Maxwell Abbey Quaye as the game ended in a stalemate.

The Phobians briefly dropped to second in the league ahead of their matchday 28 clash against city rivals Olympics, following Asante Kotoko's narrow 1-0 win over Ashanti Gold earlier in the day.

However, Samuel Boadu’s side reclaimed top spot after battling to 1-1 draw against Olympics on Sunday.

The Accra giants were largely dominant in the game and were unlucky not to have ended the first half with a lead.

They finally made their dominance count early in the second half when Nettey finished with aplomb from the rebound following a sloppy clearance from a corner-kick.

Hearts, however, couldn’t hold on to their lead as the Dade Boys restored parity in the 71st minute, thanks to a powerful header from Abbey Quaye.

The result means Hearts are now level on points with Kotoko, but remain top of the league due to a superior goal difference.
