The Senegal international beat off competition from fellow Reds teammate Mohamed Salah and Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez.
Mane delivered a touching speech after receiving his award, describing it as a very big day in his football career.

The 27-year-old also thanked his fans and the people from his village in Senegal for their support.
“To be honest I would prefer to be playing football than speaking in front of so many people,” he said.
“I'm really happy and really proud at the same time. I would like to thank my family, especially my uncle who is here today.
“It is a big day for me and I would love to thank all the Senegalese people who have been voting for me. I'm from a very small village called Bambali and I'm sure they are all watching me tonight.”
Mane has enjoyed a successful year in which he won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool and reached the final of the AFCON with Senegal.
On a personal level, the 27-year-old was also joint top scorer in the Premier League after netting 22 goals last season.
