The Ghanaian midfielder completed 11 tackles as Vitória Guimarães drew goalless against Portuguese giants FC Porto over the weekened.

But, Wakaso like all hard tackling midfielders committed a lot of fouls in the process- 7 as he managed to win and maintain possession for his side.

His 11 tackles has surpassed Edson Farias's previous record of ten set on match day 4 against Sporting Club.

Tied in third place at nine are Gustavo Cascardo (Vitória FC, home with Chaves), Gedson Fernandes (Benfica, visiting Nacional) and Zakarya Bergdich (Belenenses, Sporting's home).

Alhassan Wakaso made his debut Black Stars call-up in Ghana's World Cup qualifying game against the Pharaohs of Egypt in 2016.

The 27-year-old midfielder is yet to return to the team since then and he will be hoping to attract the attention of Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah ahead of his call-ups for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) scheduled for June.
