Billy Joe Saunders has given an encouraging update on the condition of fellow boxer Nick Blackwell after he suffered bleeding on the brain in his faith with Chris Eubank Jr. on Saturday.

Blackwell was placed in an induced coma after collapsing in the ring following a defeat which saw him lose his British middleweight title at Wembley Arena.

Saunders, who carried Blackwell's belt into the ring at the weekend, said the stricken 25-year-old's father is confident he will make a recovery.

"Spoke to Nick's Dad looking good he will be back to us in no time. Keep him in our thoughts and prayers God bless him and you all." Saunders tweeted on Monday.
