Tom Brady Says He’s Leaving the New England Patriots
As an offseason filled with speculation begins to come to a climax, Quarterback Tom Brady has announced in a post shared to his social media accounts titled "FOREVER A PATRIOT" that he will in fact not return to the New England Patriots next season.
"Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything that we have achieved and am grateful for our incredible TEAM accomplishments," he wrote in the note. I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to know each and everyone of you, and to have the memories weve created together.
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that despite today's note, Brady hasn't decided where he will play next. It's believed that the teams competing for his services include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Chargers. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network says that Tampa is believed to have made Brady an offer of near $30 million per year, with the Chargers also competing.
With some of the best weapons in the NFL (WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are both excellent), Tampa would certainly seem to be an enticing opinion. Brady also recently launched a film production company , which would seem to make Los Angeles a viable guess as well.
The Las Vegas Raiders (formerly of Oakland) had previously been a rumored possible destination, but have gone quiet in recent weeks.
2019 was Brady's 20th season with the Patriots (though he only started 18 of them; he took over for an injured Drew Bledsoe in his second season, and missed one season with a torn ACL), and it saw him become the most successful player in NFL history his six Super Bowl rings are more than anyone else. He won Super Bowl MVP four times, NFL MVP three times, and was voted to 14 Pro Bowls.

Brady's final season in New England came to an earlier end than most, as the Patriots were trounced in the Wild Card round by Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill, and the Tennessee Titans.
