Movie takes over box office

Topping the the box office and taking over undefined hit is 'Insurgent'.

The movie, which is based on novelist Veronica Roth’s Divergent series, topped with $54 million in the U.S. and Canada.

The figure comes slightly less than the $54.6 million earned last year by its prequel, Divergent.

'Insurgent' beat Disney’s live-action film Cinderella, which is now second place with a domestic weekend gross of $34.9 million.

Cinderella had earned $70 million during its debut last weekend.
