First look at Melissa Benoist's heroine costume

Former Glee star, Melissa Benoist, plays Kara Danvers aka Kara Zor-El in Warner Bros. Television's 'Super Girl' - based on the characters from DC Comics.

Mellisa plays Kara Zor-El, who escapes the destruction on Krypton to join her cousin on Earth.

also stars  Mehcad Brooks, Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Faran Tahir, Dean Cain and Helen Slater.

The costume for Supergirl  was designed by three-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, who is also behind 'The Flash and Arrow' costume.

Supergirl  would be the first network superhero series with a female lead in over a decade.
