The first customer who bought a book on artificial intelligence from the online book store-Amazon, was recently honoured.

In an online interview, John Wainwright-Amazon’s first customer, said his friend sent him a mail asking him to sign-up on Amazon.

His words: "He sent me an email and said, 'Create an account and order some books.' I thought I was going to get some free books out of it. But they took my credit card and charged it!"

Marketwatch reports, that Wainwright is a software engineer, and he ordered the book-Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought by Douglas Hofstadter on April 3, 1995 for $27.95. Exactly 20 years ago

In his honour, an Amazon building was named after him.
